Biography: Julia Carbo (Girona, 1996) earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biotechnology from the University of Girona in 2018. She is currently enrolled in the Official Master in Translational Medicine-MSc from the University of Barcelona. Before that, she conducted a Research Internship at the Gene Translation Laboratory (Prof Lluis Ribas) of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona, 2017/2018), and a Summer Internship at the Neuroscience Departament (Prof Maguire-Zeiss) of the Georgetown University Medical Center (Washington DC, USA, 2016/2017). She got a Fellowship from the SICUE National Academic Exchange programme, sponsored by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities, which allowed Julia to complete part of their studies at a university (Autonomous University of Barcelona) other than their own (University of Girona), guaranteeing academic recognition of their studies. She is fluent in English, having performed English Intensive Language Courses at Ireland (Intertravel World, 2010/2011), Vancouver-Canada (GEOS Languages, 2011/2012), and Seattle-USA (Exchange program at River Ridge High School, 2013/2014). Julia joined the Mercedes Fernandez Lab in December 2018 to gain work experience and professional development and to perform her scientific research project and Master’s Thesis.
